Patient Support Network

One of the most important keys to achieving success with bariatric surgery is having a strong support system. We recognize that individual patient experiences are invaluable resources that are beneficial for the whole group. The Bariatric Surgery Program at Penn Presbyterian is working to strengthen the patient community by providing as many forums for support and communication as possible.

Patients from Penn Presbyterian are invited to join a monthly support group for pre-and postoperative patients. This a wonderful opportunity to share your personal experience with others, and receive support from the University of Pennsylvania Health System bariatric team and patient community.

  • Pre and Post-op Support Group: This general session is geared for all bariatric surgery patients.
    • Once a month on Saturday from 10:00-noon
    • Free to pre-op patients
    • $5.00 for post-op patients
    • Located in the Philadelphia Heart Institute, Room 106 Penn Presbyterian Medical Center 39th & Market Streets, Philadelphia, PA 19104
    • Call 215-662-9785 to confirm meeting time and location
  • Pre-op Young Adult Support Group: Young adult candidates for surgery may be asked to participate in a series of educational and informational meetings designed to help them make an appropriate decision about this life altering surgery.
