August, 2002
Penn
Presbyterian Medical Center's Penn Comprehensive Neuroscience Center - Addiction Treatment Services was recently
named "Organization of the Year" by
the National Association for Addiction Professionals
(NAADAC). NAADAC presents this national award
annually to one organization that demonstrates
excellence in clinical treatment, professionalism
in practice and dedication to the support and
advancement of nurses and counselors in the addiction
treatment field. This award comes on the heels
of being named "Program of the Year" by
the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
Sharon
Morgillo-Freeman, MSN, MA, RN-CS, Nurse Manager
of two inpatient units and the Addiction Assessment
Center, accepted the award at the National Conference
on July 6, 2002, in Boston, MA. The Addiction
Services Programs also include the Non-Hospital
unit managed by Marjorie Lehigh, BSN, RN, and
the Intensive Outpatient Program managed by Vincent
Wright, BA. On winning the award, Morgillo-Freeman
says, "There is no greater honor than the
recognition of one's peers. To be recognized
at a national level is the experience of a lifetime
as well as validation for hard work well done."

Center, where assessments are offered seven days
a week; In-patient Hospital and Non-hospital
Detoxification and Rehabilitation programs; an
Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program; and In-patient
