Robert Wenger, MD, Joins Penn Cardiac Care at Brandywine Hospital

Robert K. Wenger, MD, joins the division of cardiovascular surgery at University of Pennsylvania Health System as director of cardiothoracic surgery at Brandywine Hospital.

Dr. Wenger received his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed a cardiothoracic research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed a residency in surgery at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, serving as chief surgical resident his final year, and a residency in thoracic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Wenger joins Brandywine Hospital, an affiliate of Penn Cardiac Care, after serving as an attending surgeon at several Palm Beach hospitals and medical centers. He was also director of the Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida.

As director of cardiothoracic surgery at Brandywine Hospital, Dr. Wenger’s clinical focus will be on treating patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. His vast clinical experience includes coronary artery bypass surgery with total arterial revascularization, off-pump bypass surgery, minimally invasive surgery, valve replacement and repair, and blood conservation techniques. Dr. Wenger has extensive surgical experience treating octogenarians and other high risk populations.

He is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Dr Wenger has been published in a variety of clinical articles and has conducted several clinical trials in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery.

Arthur Martella, MD Joins Penn Cardiac Care at Phoenixville Hospital

Arthur T. Martella, MD, joins the division of cardiovascular surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Phoenixville Hospital.

Dr. Martella is a graduate of the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and received postgraduate training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Martella joins the division of cardiothoracic surgery at Phoenixville Hospital, an affiliate of Penn Cardiac Care, after serving as the medical director of the Cardiothoracic Surgical Program at Paoli Hospital.

As a cardiothoracic surgeon at Phoenixville Hospital, Dr. Martella’s clinical focus will be on treating patients with cardiac and pulmonary diseases. His vast clinical experience includes performing beating heart surgery for virtually all his bypass procedures, including the use of minimally invasive techniques to harvest veins and arteries.

He is board certified by the American Board of General Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Martella has published a variety of clinical articles and has presented at national and international cardiothoracic surgery symposia.

Pocono Medical Center Welcomes Anne T. Cahill, MD
Pocono Medical Center (PMC) is proud to announce that Anne. T Cahill, MD, has joined their medical staff as the hospital’s second cardiothoracic surgeon. A graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University, Dr. Cahill completed a residency in general surgery at Georgetown University and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at UCLA. She has served as a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon at Lakewood Regional Medical Center and Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, and most recently was the medical director of cardiothoracic surgery at Shasta Medical Center in Redding, CA. With her advanced training and unique expertise, Dr. Cahill will add a number of outstanding services to the ESSA Heart & Vascular Institute at PMC, especially those pertaining to women’s heart health, arrhythmia surgery and minimally invasive heart surgery.
