Making a Gift to Pennsylvania Hospital
Even before the Pennsylvania Assembly granted
the charter establishing Pennsylvania Hospital
as the nation's first hospital on May 11, 1751,
Philadelphia area citizens, philanthropists and
business leaders enabled this institution to grow
and prosper.
Benjamin Franklin's legendary challenge to the
Colonial government stating that he could raise
the same amount of money from the community as
he and Dr. Thomas Bond were asking proved that
the community believed in the hospital and that
the people of the Delaware Valley needed the services
provided here.
This tradition continues today. Contributions
from grateful patients, business and industry,
philanthropic institutions and private citizens
are instrumental to the success of Pennsylvania
Hospital.
Ways to Give
- The Annual Fund provides a fresh stream
of unrestricted resources each year to enable
the Hospital to purchase special equipment and
provide programs and services to patients that
might not otherwise be possible.
- Memorial and tribute gifts are excellent
ways for you to honor a loved one or friend
while supporting the growth of Pennsylvania
Hospital.
- Attend or sponsor a special event such
as the Auxiliary of Pennsylvania Hospital's
annual Fantasy Ball or the Hospital Golf Tournament.
- Dedicating a patient room enables you
to make a lasting tribute to a loved one or
friend with a handsome brass plaque mounted
permanently outside the room.
- Major gifts help the Hospital purchase
state-of-the-art biomedical and surgical equipment,
conduct clinical research programs, and invest
in facility improvements. Your gift is directed
to the area that interests you.
- Naming opportunities are available
for selected spaces within the Hospital's existing
buildings as well as planned expansions.
- Planned gifts can provide you with
considerable tax benefits while contributing
to the future strength of Pennsylvania Hospital.
Please consider joining the multitude of caring
individuals who have supported the historic charitable
mission of the nation's first hospital.
