About Our Team
The hair transplantation and micrografting team
at Penn includes the following doctors from the
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
as well as several specialists from The
Hair and Scalp Clinic.
Barry Hendler, DDS, MD
Dr. Hendler is
Associate Professor/Clinician Educator in the
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
at the University of Pennsylvania. He also serves
as Director of Continuing Medical Education and
Coordinator of Laser and Cosmetic Surgery. A
graduate of Temple University and the Medical
College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Hendler is certified
by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery.
Dr. Hendler has performed maxillofacial reconstructive
surgery since 1970. He was the first in his surgical
subspecialty to perform hair transplantation
procedures, utilizing microfollicular grafting
as a standard technique, years prior to this
technique being established as a state-of-the
art procedure. He lectures nationally and internationally
on a variety of topics including single hair
follicular and minigrafts as well as the team
approach to hair restoration surgery.
David Stanton, DMD, MD, FACS
Dr. Stanton is
Associate Professor/Clinician Educator of Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgery and Director of the
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program
at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Stanton
graduated summa cum laude from the University
of Pittsburgh. He received both his medical and
dental degrees from the University of Pennsylvania,
where he also completed oral and maxillofacial
surgery residency training. Dr. Stanton completed
a fellowship in
facial cosmetic surgery at Northwestern University
and in general cosmetic surgery at Midwestern
University. Dr. Stanton is certified by
the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery.
Dr. Stanton lectures extensively on many topics
including aesthetic maxillofacial surgery, hair
restoration, obstructive sleep apnea, and osteonecrosis
of the jaws.
Lee Carrasco, DDS, MD
Dr. Carrasco is
Assistant Professor/Clinician Educator in the
Department of Oral Surgery/Pharmacology at the
University of Pennsylvania. He received his degrees
from the University of Detroit Mercy School and
from the University of Miami School of Medicine.
He completed his residency training in Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Carrasco's special interests include facial
reconstructive surgery, hair loss/hair restoration
surgery and obstructive sleep apnea.
