At the University of Pennsylvania Health System, we rely on the skills and dedication of our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. In turn, we offer them outstanding professional development opportunities to elevate their careers. When you work with UPHS, you're joining one of the leading research and teaching institutions in the nation. This is a progressive health system that will value your clinical skills and abilities as you practice in collaboration with our renowned medical teams to provide pharmacotherapeutic care for patients with a wide variety of disorders.

Working through a decentralized model, clinical pharmacists within UPHS have abundant opportunities to impact patient outcomes. Collecting, synthesizing and interpreting relevant information about a patient's disease state and drug therapy, you'll define and prioritize all actual and drug-related problems.

At the University of Pennsylvania Health System, we are dedicated to the future of Pharmacy.  As part of our commitment to Pharmacy education, we are now offering Scholarships for 6th year Pharmacy students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  In exchange for a three-year full time employment payback commitment, UPHS will provide a full year of paid tuition to our scholarship winners.

As further proof, we have also instituted a Loan Forgiveness Program for newly-graduated Pharmacists. The Program provides eligible employees with the opportunity to receive assistance from us to repay student loans incurred in connection with the individual's pharmacy studies. Full-time benefit eligible employees will be eligible to receive the following as long as they meet all eligibility criteria:

  • $1,000 at the completion of year one of employment
  • $2,000 at the completion of year two of employment
  • $3,000 at the completion of year three of employment
  • $4,000 at the completion of year four of employment

For more information about these outstanding benefit programs, please email pharmacy.scholarship@uphs.upenn.edu.

Working with a multidisciplinary team, you'll establish a desired outcome for each problem and determine feasible alternatives and then choose the best pharmacotherapeutic solution, individualize the therapy regime and monitor and measure the success of the outcomes. When you join us, you'll be a member of an elite group who has the opportunity to teach and train new pharmacists, residents and students along with in-services for our nursing and pharmacy staff.

As a pharmacy technician, you'll practice in collaboration with the medical team to provide pharmaceutical care for patients and give direct support to the pharmacists, physicians and nurses in preparing medications for patients ranging from infancy to geriatrics. This is a high-tech, fast-paced environment where you'll play an integral part in providing optimal pharmacy service(s) to our patients and other health care professionals.

With the support and leadership these disciplines receive, your career will develop a dimension of skill that enables you to practice with increasing autonomy and growing recognition for your accomplishments. Being aligned with a strong teaching and learning environment will also present ample opportunities for you to learn new things on a daily basis.

Whether you choose to join our remarkable staff at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, or Penn Home Care & Hospice Services, you will enjoy the camaraderie and support that you'll experience at our prestigious institution, as well as a comprehensive compensation and benefits program that includes 100% pre-paid tuition assistance.
