Symptoms

Abdominal and pelvic pain is the most common symptom of endometriosis. Other symptoms include:

  • fatigue
  • bloating
  • diarrhea and/or constipation
  • irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding
  • blood in the urine (hematuria)

Pain caused by endometriosis often strikes at specific times, such as just before or during menstruation. Some women experience pain during:

  • sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
  • physical exams
  • exercise
  • bowel movements
  • urination (dysuria)

Some women, however, don't experience any pain at all, or they don't connect the pain with endometriosis until they discover that they're unable to get pregnant.
