Perinatal Evaluation and Treatment Unit (PETU)
Located adjacent to the hospital's Labor and
Delivery Unit, the Perinatal Evaluation and Treatment
Unit (PETU) offers one convenient, centralized
location for evaluation of pregnancy-related concerns
of patients. The PETU provides outpatient care
as well as antenatal testing procedures that are
performed on both an outpatient and inpatient
basis.
The PETU also provides high-quality, efficient
maternal/fetal evaluation and triage for all women
in labor. It is the first PETU in the region staffed
by perinatalogists or maternal fetal medicine
specialists (high-risk pregnancy specialists)
to assist in the evaluation of high-risk situations
that develop during labor and delivery. Procedures
such as amniocentesis and fetal surgery are also
performed in the PETU.
