Timeline

The new Penn Heart and Vascular Center in the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine will bring Penn's superb heart specialists and subspecialists together in a light-filled, welcoming facility – providing greater convenience for patients, increasing cross-disciplinary collaboration among caregivers and catalyzing clinical research.

The following services will be available at the Penn Heart and Vascular Center:

Penn cardiology has always been a leader in cardiovascular medicine; our expertise includes:

  • The clinical specialties at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania have been consistently ranked among the nation's best by U.S. News & World Report, as featured in its July 7, 2006 issue. HUP is recognized for all 15 of the adult medical specialties reviewed by US News.
  • Penn has one of the busiest cardiac electrophysiology programs in the world, performing more than 3,500 procedures annually.
  • More aortic reconstructions are performed each year at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania than anywhere else in the United States.

Penn cardiologists are at the forefront of non-invasive imaging, utilizing new MRI and CT technology to detect and quantify atherosclerosis and vulnerable plaques.
