Computed Tomography at Pennsylvania
Hospital
Computed tomography ("CAT" or "CT) is an innovative
way of looking inside of the body. The CAT scanner
utilizes an x-ray beam, detector and ca computer
to display images of the body in cross section.
The x-ray tube will rotate around the patient
360 degrees and takes a "picture" or "slice."
The
computer will combine various segments of the
pictures and create internal views of the body. CAT
scanners can view any body part with minimal
discomfort to the patient.
