Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine at Penn
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation — the
first established department of its kind in the
country — specializes in a number of areas,
including aging, industrial rehabilitation, musculoskeletal
disorders, neurological disorders, occupational
diseases and trauma.
Good Shepherd Penn Partners
On July 1, 2008 the Good Shepherd Penn Partners
assumed management of the following post-acute
care services for the University of Pennsylvania
Health System.
- Inpatient
rehabilitation care at the Penn Institute
for Rehabilitation Medicine
- Long-term
acute care at the Specialty Hospital
at Rittenhouse
- Outpatient
rehabilitation care at eight Penn Therapy & Fitness
locations
- Physical, occupational and speech therapy
services within three acute-care hospitals
of UPHS (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania,
Pennsylvania Hospital and Penn Presbyterian
Medical Center).
Good Shepherd Penn Partners is a joint venture
between the University of Pennsylvania Health
System and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network
in Allentown, Pa. Patients who are currently
receiving treatment will not experience any interruptions
or changes in the standard and process in which
they receive care.

Penn Center for Rehabilitation and Care
A part of Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Penn Center
for Rehabilitation and Care (PCRC) is a 124-bed skilled nursing facility offering long and short term
care. Team members include nurses, social workers, dietitians, physical, occupational
and speech therapists, and a recreation therapist. Physicians from Penn Presbyterian
Medical Center and HUP are available and on call at all times.
