Cardiovascular Surgery
Cardiac minimally invasive surgeries include:
- Aortic Valve Surgery - A small incision is made in the upper chest called a partial sternotomy, the surgeon uses direct vision to replace the aortic valve with a prosthetic valve while a heart-lung machine keeps blood flowing through the body.
- Mitral Valve Repair - Using small incisions
in the chest for access and working with a robotic-controlled
miniature camera, the surgeon repairs and/or
replaces the heart's mitral valve while a heart-lung
machine keeps blood flowing through the body.
- Bypass surgery - Using small incisions in
the chest for access and moving some bones in
the area to reach the heart, the surgeon creates
a new pathway for blood to flow when a single
heart vessel is damaged.
