Our vascular specialists have international
reputations in their field, with wide publication
of numerous articles and authorship of several
books on vascular disease. The staff of the
Penn Vascular Services uses advanced techniques
to remain on the cutting-edge in the treatment
of vascular disease.
In addition, Penn Vascular
Services is a national leader in clinical and FDA trials for
the treatment of peripheral
vascular disease and venous disease. These
studies include
- advanced FDA trials investigating a new way
to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms.
- novel ways of treating claudication (PVD).
- new methods to identify and treat carotid
disease.
- evaluation of medications on their vascular
function.
- investigations into reducing the risk of heart
attack and stroke.
The University of Pennsylvania Health System
also has an accredited cardiovascular medicine
and vascular surgery fellowship, one of only three
in the Philadelphia region.
